Hi my loves! Today's post is all about the culottes.
I bought these culottes in the beginning of the summer. I saw them on numerous runways and street-style bloggers and I knew they were going to be a must-have this spring/summer. I honestly think they're weird! They're not pants, shorts, or a skirt. They're apparently, just culottes (a style originated from France to allow women to garden, horseback ride, and clean and still appear to wear a skirt).
I really didn't know how to style them since the print is a bit out there and I also didn't know how to style them to avoid looking small. I'm very small as it is and these cutoffs make me look smaller by only showing my calves. Of course a plain tee or crop top would look great but I wanted to play with the print and patterns. I had both items hanging on my rack of clothes, yet still was on a hunt for the perfect white top for the culottes. One day i'm laying on my bed staring at my rack and it just hit me, VOILA! I instantly tried it on and realized it looked perfect together. It was kind of annoying that I was on a mission for a top and it was right there in my face hanging next to the shorts but besides that.. It wasn't something I would have paired it with initially but in a weird way, I loved it. I loved that the top fell right at the beginning of my waist area where the shorts began. Therefore, allowing me to let go of the fear of looking shorter than I am, lol.
I wore this look for some lunch and quality time with my beautiful mommy!
We decided to eat at this cute little restaurant called "Gina La Fornarina." I am so glad we did because the food was so good! My mom ordered the free range chicken breast panini with a side of mixed greens and I ordered the Chicken Piccata: organic chicken breast, chardonnay wine reduction, lemon & caper sauce, served with roasted potato & string beans. It was delicious!! I mostly loved that the servings are great for one person because we both licked our plates clean (exaggerating but you get the point). I definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants a little girl time or a romantic date with your beau! I could only imagine how romantic the setting is at night.
Enjoy your weekend!
