FTHU TURNS VI
Six years ago I was hanging at my cousins house in Brooklyn when her and her boyfriend proposed the idea that I started a blog. They felt I shared my inspiration and looks on instagram on the daily and why not take it further and have it all in one space where I could really share more and be creative. I had no idea what I was doing or why but I launched FromTheHeelsUp. I began sharing all the things that inspired me and what I wore daily. I shared it because I loved to, because I loved that people wanted to see it and know it.
Fast forward six years...
It shocks me every time that over the years I've built an online community - enough to run into some of you on the street and you're excited to...meet me. I've worked with brands I never thought in a million years would notice me or care. I've formed friendships in this industry that are now my biggest source of support. And last but not least, it's surreal that I can call this a job.
It's been a long and exciting journey online and offline since 2012 and through all my milestones, I've never celebrated any victory. Most times I felt it wasn't enough or I could do more and never felt inspired to celebrate but this year was different. With the help of my supportive friend Rachel, CEO of PRG New York, we put together a Mix and Mingle to get some of my supportive followers and close family and friends in one room to celebrate my 6 year anniversary.
The celebration was held at The Armory in Brooklyn, NY. With the help of an all women team, I was able to bring like-minded, goal-oriented, and positive individuals to mingle over small bites and my signature "sitting pretty" drink. With tunes provided by Nyla Symone of Power 105.1 and a photo booth that brought strangers together - the evening was definitely one to remember.
I will never stop thanking those who have helped me get to this place in life and this event was just an inch of the gratitude I wish I could show to you all everyday. Here are some photos to recap a moment I will never ever forget.
